Aviano Photo Club

Our beginning:

The idea of creating a photography club was brought forth in September of 2010 by a group of classmates who thought it would be fun to create a local photography club and share their photography experiences with each other.  Since that time, the Aviano Photo Club (APC) has been established, developed a mission, appointed board members, set goals for the club and its members, and accomplished the ground work the classmates had envisioned.

What the club is:

APC is a non-profit, community-based organization maintained by club members and volunteers.  Membership consists of many different levels of interest from advanced photographers to beginners who have just picked up their first point and shoot camera.  Some of the advanced professionals have their own studios.

Club membership is opened to any military ID cardholder ages 10 and up as well as DoD sponsored civilians residing in the Aviano Air Base community and surrounding areas.

The club holds meetings on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month from 7pm to 9pm at the Aviano Air Base Community Center, located in Area 1.

Currently, the club is maintained by a group of board members and committee members who vote and advocate for the club members.  The club is not governed by any single authority but rather by votes and new ideas from its club members.

Our Mission Statement:

‘The mission of the Aviano Photo Club is to promote and enhance the art of photography through education, exhibitions, discussions, hands-on training, and field experiences.’

Our vision:

‘To assist our members in finding the resources they need to continue their photography interests while stationed at Aviano Air Base.’

What the club is not:

APC is not a business.  The club does not profit from any photography services.

What we offer:

Presentations - presentations are provided by local experts for the purpose to educate and to share useful tips and techniques to the club members.

Challenges - The Challenges Committee develops a monthly assignment  for our members to take photographs while trying to achieve a specific style.  The purpose of each assignment is to allow each photographer to "challenge" himself/herself regarding the topic of the month.  Each photographer can submit his/her favorite photographs to be displayed in a slide show at the next club meeting.

Club Trips - The Travel Committee develops monthly trip itineraries to give our club members the opportunity to accompany others who like to travel and take photographs.  The travel committee focuses on finding "picture perfect" areas to photograph in the Aviano Air Base and surrounding areas.   This also gives our new families the opportunity to see the local areas and safely travel as a group.

Volunteer Opportunities- No-Fee Photography service Base-wide, we provide a single point of contact to provide voluntary services to Aviano Air Base organizations for their photography needs.   The purpose is to allow our advanced photographers to gain more exposure and stay in practice and provide our novice photographers some field experience.

Board Member Responsibilities:
Board members are here to serve the needs of our fellow club members to the best of our ability
We promise to discuss all new ideas and suggestions
Conduct business in a professional matter and abide by the by-laws as voted
